Myths about Enough

Enough DNA is inadmissible
Enough DNA can be admitted if physical contact is denied by the accused, and if the survivor will testify that they collected the sample correctly. This has been confirmed by leading KC barristers, leading law officers, and authorities on DNA admissibility.

Enough samples are being used by police in rape investigations, and the police have been instructed to treat self-testing kits with the same evidential integrity as any other evidence, and to not discourage survivors coming forward with evidence from Enough.

Enough diverts survivors from going to the Police, the SARCs, or Rape Crisis
Enough does not divert, and always signposts survivors to the Police and SARCs before they report. Enough always signposts survivors to Rape Crisis after they report. Enough is an alternative to inaction, as an option for the 86% that don’t report to the police, 95% that don’t go to a SARC, and estimated 85% that don’t go to Rape Crisis.

Using Enough to collect perpetrator DNA and storing it is illegal

Enough has been banned by the FFLM
Enough has not been banned and the FFLM Is not a regulator. The FFLM simply says that survivors should be encouraged to go to the police or a SARC first (which Enough has always done). Survivors must be informed that a full forensic examination has more evidentiary weight than an Enough DNA sample, which we make very clear

Enough is for profit and is trying to sell kits to students
Enough has always been non profit and we only distribute kits free to students. Enough has been funded by individuals, employers and the National Lottery; and we hope will now be funded by a mixture of organisations including the Police and Crime Commissioners, Home Office, Universities, further employers, and brands. The Public can buy kits if they wish and donate to pay for kits for others.

Enough sells private data and DNA profiles
Enough has no access to anyones private data, and we don’t know who has encrypted data on our platform. We do not have access to any DNA profiles or samples. Those remain the property of the survivor, and are held for them by the independent lab.

Enough copied its brand name from the Government
We were not aware of the Governments Enough campaign against street harassment when we registered our company and the trademark, and we did not deliberately copy their campaign name. Enough is the owner of the Enough trademark for rape prevention services but is happy for anyone to use it.

Enough is opposed by the Police and Home Office
Enough was in contact with the police several months before we launched and consulted on how to launch so that we would complement their work. We followed their requests. They asked us not to imply that they endorse us.

The Home Office and other Government departments and agencies are fully aware of Enough and we have contact at various points. The Home Office is looking for new initiatives that can prevent rape, are cost effective, and scalable. We hope that we can demonstrate we are all those things.

Some police officers have recently (January 2026) made public comments that appear to misunderstand how Enough works. We are making contact to address these.
